SUBMISSIONS ARE NOW CLOSED FOR PLAYING THE RACE CARD
THE CREATIVE BRIEF
‘Playing the Race Card’ is a call out to UK artists who identify as black to submit artworks inspired by perceptions or experiences relating to the concept of the race card. We ask that artists consider how this problematic metaphor can be turned on its head, and explore ideas that replace a culture of victim blaming with a celebration of diversity.
WHO IS PLAYING THE RACE CARD?
This is open to anyone in the UK who identifies as black, including people whose ancestral origins are African, South and East Asian, Caribbean, Middle Eastern, Romany, the indigenous people of the South Pacific Islands, the American continents, Australia and New Zealand. You don’t need to be a professional artist to enter as we value everyone’s opinions and creative concepts.

Artworks can be new or existing works providing they fit the context. We are open to receive all types of visual art media including painting, drawing, photography, graphics, sculpture, glass, fibre, functional, digital, installation, animation, film, drawing, graffiti, mosaic, mixed media and others.
